Grade 9 Math : Daily Blog
Today in class we talked about PEDMAS (Parenthesis, Exponents, Divisions, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction)

Example :

(-5)2 - 10 / 5 + 4 x 10

+25 - 10 / 5 + 4 x 10

+25- 2 + 4 x 10

+25 - 2 + 40

+23 + 40

63

We also practiced PEDMAS using cards. The 4 green cards were Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction and 4 number cards. We mixed the them to make equations so we can practice PEDMAS.

Hey Kevin! You did do a very good job of getting to the point and it was a great idea to include one of your own equations from the game.

Here's a tip to format the exponent in your question so that it looks like an exponent instead of multiplying: You can use a little html code to create the exponent. To do this, click on the 'Edit Html' tab at the top right of the composing box. Type (-5) and then the code < sup > before the exponent (in this case 2) and the code < /sup > after the exponent (without the spaces in the brackets). This will raise it up.

Let me know if you have any problems with the editing!
