Hi everyone!

I am back with Polynomials, as you know we finish our polynomials Unit
and UNIT TEST on Thursday!!

anyway today in class we write a little bit note
about what is going to be on the test and the marks of the test

so our test is going to be out off 55
check out what is going to be in our test on Thursday

Part A= Translating

which looks like this

Ex. 9 less than x
they say that nine is less than x

so we took the word less which means
SUBTRACT
so we will write in this way

= X-9

Ex. Twice a number, decreased by 4

so we choose any letters to represent the

number
for example i choose letter N to represent my number
as you know decreased which means SUBTRACT
so we will represent in this way

=2n-4

Part B= Terminology

This terminology is example of ADDITIVE INVERSE which means opposite

This simple

Ex. what is the additive inverse of 3

which means the opposite of 3
which is -3.
Ex. what is the additive inverse of x

which is -x

Part C= Substitution

Let's look at an example using the Substitution method:

Ex. 3x-4y when x=3 and y=-3

So we know that x=3 and y=-3

now we can solve this equation
by putting 3 into the x and

-3 into the y

3x-4y

=3(3)-4(-3)

=9+12
=21 ans

it is simple very easy!

Ex. 2(3x-4y)-3(2x+2y) when x=2 and y=-2
We start with PEDMAS

=6x-8y-6x-6y
=6x-6x-8y-6y

=-14y
=-14(-2)
=28

Part D= Simplification:
.Add,Subtract,Multiply

simplifying is one of my best part

Ex. simplify by combining like terms.

d+d+d+d+p+p+p+d

we collect the like terms then we add them which will give as

=5d+3p

stop there because they are no more like terms
but remember multiplying polynomials can multiply
with any kind of variables.

Ex. (d-5) - (d+3)

so this question is subtracting polynomials

as we know we change the other side to opposite

= (d-5) - (d+3)
= (d-5) + (-d-3) we change the other side
= d-5-d-3 we took off the brackets
= d-d-5-3 we collect the like terms and solve it

= -8 this is what we found!

it is simple if you try more

let see multiply polynomials

Ex. (-2m^3)(m)

(-2m^3)(m)

=-2m^4 we add the exponent thats why i get m^
4

Lets try another one

(2x^2)(-3y)

=-12x^2y

Part E= Word Problem
.Algetiles (subtract)
. Perimeter/Area rectangle

.Find missing side given Perimeter
. Creating dimensions

Lets use this question with algetiles

Ex. (-3x+10) - (-10x-8)

lets try another question

so in this rectangle they give as the length
and the width
so if we want to find the perimeter of this rectangle we add the all side.

P=x+x+5x+5x P=2x+10x P=12x

If they told us to find the are of the
rectangle we multiply

A=L*W

A= x(5x)
A= 5x^2

ANYWAY THIS IS WHAT SHOULD STUDY FOR YOUR TEST

    WOW!! Double WOW WOW!

    What can I say?

Super well organized- you did a great job of anticipating the type of questions that would be on your test- very helpful to your classmates and to you too I hope!

The colors you chose definitely enhance your work and it was a good idea to explain in words what you were doing, step by step.

Thanks for showing me about www.imagechef.com I think that might come in handy!

    Two thumbs up!

Oh! Check out the link on the side to learn how to format an exponent using HTML coding!
